There’s a lot to celebrate today.
This morning, we are feeling grateful: for each other and that we get to work together, and for you and your support. Breach is a team that dreams big and goes after it, investing everything we have to achieve what we believe in. Last night, one of our boldest dreams came true, and we got to watch big dreamers across the country win big too. Sweeping victories like these are only possible when the people – all of us – stand up for what we believe in. Thank you for standing with us. We could not make dreams come true without you.
Eugene voters want the Eugene Clean Energy Fund!!
This victory is more evidence that people power wins: ECEF is powered by volunteers, community organizers, and social and environmental justice organizations, and backed by over 120 small business owners, labor unions, community organizations, and elected officials. Eugene voters agree that we must make billion-dollar corporations pay their fair share. It is far past time that these mega-businesses invest back into our community, and it is also far past time that we start taking our ambitious climate goals seriously. We need clean energy, green jobs, and climate resilience – and we need them now.
At Breach, ECEF has been our baby. Ever since the Portland Clean Energy Fund became a reality in 2018, we dreamt of having something similar in Eugene. This win took years of time, energy, and roll-up-your-sleeves-work – ours, our coalition partners’, and many of yours – and we’re so proud to see it win on the ballot. We can’t wait to continue collaborating with partner organizations, volunteers, elected officials, and YOU to make this initiative as beneficial for our community as it can be.
Progressive wins across the nation mean defense → offense
The authoritarian foundation that the federal administration has been aggressively pouring for two years has cracked. Across the country, American voters defied gerrymandering and voter suppression to demand progressive leaders who campaigned on centering the working class, making life more affordable, and making government accountable to the people.
At Breach, this means more than just a “blue wave.” It means it’s time to go on the offensive. Voters issued a mandate last night that they want to see progressive policies that address the climate crisis, protect communities from climate impacts, guarantee the rights and dignity of workers, and improve the quality of life for all people everywhere. Now it’s on us to hold our elected officials accountable to bringing that mandate to life.
It will take all of us to keep winning and turn this election’s victories into lasting change that benefits the people. If you’re ready to seize this moment with us and push hard for the future we all deserve, where the health and well-being of working people and our planet are prioritized over the profits of the corporate oligarchy, please make a donation to Breach today.
