Niomi Markel

Environmental Law Intern

Niomi (she/her) is a youth climate justice advocate who has been involved in community organizing for the last five years. Throughout high school she has served on the leadership team for Portland Youth Climate Strike, led her school’s student equity team, and organized with the Oregon chapter of March for Our Lives. During high school, Niomi has also studied history and ecology at Portland State University and environmental sociology at Brown University. She is now taking a gap year to continue her organizing career before going to college. Niomi also currently hosts a local radio show dedicated to youth activism in Portland. In her free time she enjoys biking and rock climbing. Niomi was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and Cochabamba, Bolivia.
